The Head of Directorate will oversee and manage all activities within the Directorate for Central Integration and Engineering (CIE), including design integration, configuration control, systems engineering, Computer-Aided Design & drawing, system analysis, application of codes & standards, safety design and assessment, on-site assembly and installation, remote handling, machine operations, RAMI (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Inspectability) and integral logistics. | | Main duties / Responsibilities |
| • Functions as a design integrator to: -Establish and finalize all the requirements from project specifications, engineering and safety requirements including consistency among technologies, i.e., fabricability of component, easiness of initial assembly and remote maintenance, cost contaminant and engineering schedule minimization,; -Ensure that there are no conflicting requirements introduced by the flowing down of the overall project requirements to components; -Constantly maintain and update the Project Requirements until operation; -Oversee design reviews and conclude the design readiness by ensuring that the design of each component meets the requirements and that the interfaces are taken into account at each level of the project, including the manufacturing phase; -Ensure that manufacturing, acceptation and assembly are compliant with procedures defined; -Ensure that technical documents are provided with a sufficiently high level of quality to support the decisions; • Technically coordinates horizontal integration activities within the project and oversee the integral system design and analysis; • Develops and maintains systems for the configuration control of the ITER project technical scope and cost; • Oversees the safety design and assessment, and develops and maintains the safety documents for licensing application; • Enforces and maintains technical requirements and administrative requirements for quality assurance and conformity assessments; • Interfaces with the Domestic Agencies with respect to the technical integration and engineering, safety implications, and assembly and operations; • Shows strong commitment to the ITER Safety Program and enforce it through individual behavior and in his/her organization; • Maintains a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of ITER values and ethics. | | Measures of effectiveness |
